Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha to lose Rs 100 cr, actor likely to forego his fee: report

The film business has been shaken by Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha fiasco. Khan is reportedly forgoing his fees for the movie despite being known for keeping a portion of the revenues. There are rumours that Aamir Khan is giving up his remuneration to pay producers considering the significant losses Laal Singh Chaddha sustained.

According to a report by Indiatimes, a person who spoke to Bollywood Hungama claimed that the producers would have lost more than Rs 100 crores if Aamir Khan had accepted his fees. So, Khan decided to let go of his remuneration to share the load with producers.

“If Aamir Khan decides to charge his acting fees, Viacom 18 Studios would have entailed losses of nearly Rs. 100 crores. However, that loss is something that Aamir Khan has decided to absorb himself. Now, the producer will lose a little money,” sources claimed.

The sources further added, “He gave four years to the film but has not made a single penny from it. His opportunity cost on Laal Singh Chaddha is upwards of Rs 100 crores, but he has decided to absorb all the losses taking the complete blame of failure on himself.”

Laal Singh Chaddha is the official adaptation of Tom Hanks’ cult movie Forrest Gump (1994). On August 11, along with Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan, the film was released in theatres. The film received mixed to unfavourable reviews from online users before it was released. The campaign for a boycott of the movie began to gain traction on social media as the release date drew near.

Laal Singh Chaddha debuted to a muted response from the audience for several reasons, and the movie flopped terribly at the box office. Although the movie was successful worldwide, the significant cost couldn’t be recouped. Kareena Kapoor Khan also appears in Laal Singh Chaddha in the lead role.
