On the occasion of Baisakhi, 14 April the committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak reported that the Aam Aadmi Party leader who is also the CM of Punjab, Bhagwat Mann entered the Takht Damdama Sahib after consuming alcohol.
The vice president of the organization, Raghujit Singh Virk, said, “the CM under the influence of alcohol visited a highly respected spiritual site of the Sikh community and violated the Sikh rehat Maryada (code of conduct)”
In the release, he added, “The conduct of CM showed that he did not extend the due respect and honor to the Guru Ghar. In this way, he lowered the prestige of the constitutional office of CM, too.”
The organization asked CM Mann to admit his fault and apologize.
Following the incident, Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga a leader of BJP Punjab filed a police complaint against CM Bhagwant for the same reason on Saturday.
He tweeted while attaching a screenshot of the police complaint he filed against Mann, “Filed Police complaint against Punjab CM @BhagwantMann for Entering Gurudwara Damdama Sahib in Drunk Condition. I request @DGPPunjabPolice @PunjabPoliceInd to take action on my complaint.”
There has been no reaction to the incident from anyone in the Aam Aadmi Party yet.
