After Nord, OnePlus joins the Smart Watch race

After the release of the first compact midrange smartphone Nord. Now OnePlus Chinese smartphone manufacturer is working on a smartwatch. This could appear as ‘OnePlus Watch.’ Singapore Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has approved the ‘OnePlus Watch.” Their site shows that the watch has model number W301 GB but does not disclose any information about the specifications or construction of the new smartwatch.

It may run on Google’s OS and Snapdragon chip, possibly the recently released Snapdragon Wear 4100. OnePlus Watch can also include a battery-saving OLED display, and a host of fitness and health features such as a heart rate sensor, blood oxygen monitor, and software-based features such as sleep cycle analysis, goals-oriented exercise tracking, and more.

As the new OnePlus Watch appears to have been approved, before the end of the year it may be up for a sale. OnePlus can also launch its first smartwatch at the same time as the onePlus 8 T which will be launched shortly.

“We had completed the design but we still decided to scrap it. We have to be focused,” says OnePlus CEO Pete Lau.

OPPO recently released an OPPO Watch, a smartwatch that looks identical to the Apple Watch but lacking a digital crown.

OnePlus has broadened its range. Earlier this year it launched the affordable OnePlus Nord. Last year, the business also branched out and joined the TV markets, launching several OnePlus TV models and many wireless earphones like the OnePlus Buds.
