According to Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Ashraful Ahsan Jitu, a 10th grader at Ashulia Haji Yunus Ali School, killed his teacher Utpal Kumar by hitting him with a cricket bat after the latter had advised the adolescent to stop being intimate with a female student.
According to Ashulia police Sub-Inspector Emdadul Haque, who is investigating the matter, a Dhaka court on Thursday ordered five days for questioning the accused while he is in detention.
Ahsan was originally detained by RAB on Wednesday at Sreepur, Gazipur, and afterwards turned over to Ashulia police on Thursday morning.
According to RAB officials, Ahsan admitted during first questioning that he had plotted the attack on Utpal.
At a press conference at the RAB Media Center on Thursday, Commander Khandker Al Moin, a spokesman for the RAB, stated that Ahsan was well known for making fun of girls in and around school and for starting a young gang.
According to Commander Moin, the 10th student believed that hitting instructor Utpal would make a good impression on the lady he was vying for.
On June 25, Ahsan attacked Utpal with a cricket stump while the instructor was watching a game of cricket.
According to the RAB officer, “the accused first beat Utpal Kumar on the back of his head and then on other areas of his body, gravely hurting him.”
Ahsan remained in the vicinity after the incident until dark before leaving out of fear of being arrested. He first proceeded to Manikganj, then the next day to Ataikula, and ultimately to the hamlet of Dhonua in Sreepur, Gazipur.
