Bangalore Riots Update: SDPI’s Muzammil Pasha arrested

SDPI’s Muzammil Pasha arrested for organizing, instigating violence, two other SDPI members absconding Bengaluru.

Karnataka Minister CT Ravi termed it a planned riot saying that within an hour of a post on social media thousands of people gathered and damaged 200-300 vehicles and MLA’s residence.

“We’ll take serious action. It was an organized incident and SDPI is behind it,” he added.

A mob of about a thousand people attacked a Congress MLA’s house in Bengaluru on Tuesday night and vandalized a police station. Three people were killed after the police fired at the crowd, report says. The situation came under control around 1 am and over 100 people have been arrested.

According to ANI, sixty policemen sustained injuries as the mob hurled bottles and stones at them while protesting against the social media post which insulted the religious figure.

The city police commissioner Kamal Pant has confirmed that the police have also detained 149 people for rioting. The people familiar to the development said that the youth arrested for posting the content has denied his role saying his Facebook account was hacked.

In a conversation with @ANI Kamal Pant, Police Commissioner said, now the situation is under control. Curfew imposed in DJ Halli & KG Halli police station limits & Section 144 imposed in the remaining city. We’re getting some companies from RAF, CRPF & CISF, to join our security arrangements.

B Bommai has also briefed Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa about the whole incident and the CM in a tweet condemned the violence. He also ordered action against elements who took the law in their hands. Yediyurappa further added that the varmints who attacked the police personnel, media, and the general public will not be spared. He also requested for peace, calm and asked people to not get incited.
