On Friday, the Election Commission of India announced guidelines for the conduct of general elections and by-elections during the COVID-19 pandemic. The guidelines came ahead before the crucial Bihar Legislative Assembly Elections that are due later this year.

The Election Commission will provide face masks and hand sanitizers to voters along with facial PPE kits to children accompanying their parents to the polling booth.

The new guideline emphasized on sanitization, thermal scanning, and face mask. As per the guidelines, candidates can file nominations online. Further, all those involved in election-related activities will also have to mandatorily wear face masks.
