Ex- Karnataka IPS Officer K Annamalai will join BJP : Reports

Ex Karnataka IPS officer popularly referred to as ‘Singham’ K Annamalai will join the BJP on Tuesday. As the saffron party is preparing itself for next year’s Tamil Nadu assembly elections.

K Annamalai, whose departure from the post had led to citizen protests, retired to public services in 2019, following a year’s break during which he was involved in social services in Tamil Nadu.

Annamalai is expected to join the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday in New Delhi, in the presence of their President JP Nadda


“BJP is a nationalist party and I am a nationalist in the first place. I think the Bharatiya Janata Party will be able to give a new vision and direction to Tamil Nadu.” Says Annamalai

The former IPS officer aka “Singam” claims that Bharatiya Janata Party was unfairly portrayed in Tamil Nadu. “The party is not perceived as the way it is here in other states. A wrong perception of the Bharatiya Janata Party has been created here,” he added.

Karnataka Minister of Medical Education K Sudhakar was among the first members of the BJP to welcome Annamalai to the party.

“Retired IPS officer Annamalai joins the BJP today. Annamalai who served with honestly in Bengaluru, Chikkamagaluru sought voluntary retirement and is now joining the BJP. It gives me great happiness that he is joining the party. Wishing him the very best,” says K Sudhakar in a tweet.
