Tulsi or Holy basil is a common herb in the Lamiaceae family. It is native to the Indian subcontinent and is widely grown in Southeast Asia. Tulsi is highly effective in defending our body from various heart, liver, skin, kidney, etc. infections and diseases Tulsi is rightly referred to as the ‘Queen of Herbs.’
In Ayurveda, Tulsi has a special place, as well as India’s Hindus home. It is considered sacred by and worshiped by Hindus. In India, three main types of Tulsi grow:
- Ram Tulsi
- Krishna Tulsi
- Vana Tulsi.

Tulsi is known to be rich in minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, and potassium, and vitamins A, C, and K. It also has plenty of protein and fiber.

Tulsi’s fresh juice obtained in black pepper powder cures occasional fevers. Tulsi leaves, boiled in half a liter of water with powdered cardamom(elaichi) and blended with sugar and milk, are also helpful in reducing temperature.
Eugenol, a reagent present in Tulsi that has pain-relieving effects, reduces body aches.
