Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Moscow on Friday while border tensions continue to grow between India & China in eastern Ladakh. In the meantime, Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane is in Leh on Friday as part of his two-day stay amid the ongoing India-China border face-off in eastern Ladakh.
The Indian Army impeded the People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) attempt to change the status quo on the southern bank of the Pangong Lake in eastern Ladakh. India and China have held several rounds of military and diplomatic talks in the last two-and-half months. Still, no meaningful headway has been made to resolve the border row in eastern Ladakh.
India army chief said that discussions could settle border row with China. On Friday, Indian army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane said he was positive that the ongoing border stand-off with China in the western Himalayas could be settled through talks. “We are sure that the problem can be resolved fully through talks. The situation along the LAC is slightly tense,” Naravane said.
The situation along the China border serious, Indian Army has taken major precautionary steps, stated Naravane, who arrived in Ladakh on Thursday.
