A video of Golden boy Neeraj Chopra is going viral online in which he is seen touching an elderly fan’s feet after breaking his own national record at Stockholm Diamond League.
In the video, Neeraj Chopra was seen interacting with fans and before leaving, he touches an elderly fan’s feet. One of the fans was heard saying, “so down to earth.”
Olympic champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra launched his Diamond League campaign in Stockholm on Thursday with a tremendous throw of 89.94 metres. The 24-year-old beat his own national mark of 89.30m, which he had established earlier this month at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku.
After a start of 89.94 metres, Chopra’s next attempts were: 84.37m, 87.46m, 84.77m and 86.67m.
Chopra eventually came from the Diamond League with a silver medal after failing to improve upon his initial effort. Peters won the gold medal, while Germany’s Julian Weber, who threw 89.08 metres in his sixth try, won the bronze.
This was Neeraj’s first Diamond League meet in almost four years.
The prestigious one-day meet at the Swedish capital is Chopra’s biggest event ahead of the World Championships in Eugene, USA, next month. He is going to lead the 22 member Indian Athletics team at world championships.
