IPL 2020 knocks on the door, here’s everything you need to know about the changes this year

The governing board of the Indian Premier League (IPL) GC decides on the issues relating to the IPL 2020 edition. Taking into account the prevailing situation of COVID-19 in India, the IPL GC decided to organize the tournament in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The matches will be played in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi subject to the necessary clearances from the Indian Government.


  • As of 19 September, IPL 2020 will be played and the final will be held on 10 November 2020.
  • The 53-day tournament will witness 10-afternoon matches starting at IST 15:30 while the night matches start at IST 19:30.
  • The Governing Council also addressed the detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • This will be finalized and released in due course, including the agencies to implement and deliver a secure and effective IPL 2020 Season environment.


  • Dream11 has been revealed by IPL GC as the new Title Sponsor of the Indian Premier League 2020 edition. Dream11 (Sports Technologies Pvt. Ltd) is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
  • The Dream11 sports association has evolved over the years and is currently affiliated with a total of 19 sports leagues and 6 Indian Premier League Franchises


  • UK-based security and safety operating company Restrata won this year’s deal to develop the bio-safety bubble for the IPL in UAE.
  • To win the contract, Restrata, which operates out of the United Kingdom and UAE pipped the Tata group.


  • This year’s IPL’s Emirati organizers are looking forward to at least some fan presence in the stands during the matches, a top official said the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB).
  • The board is finalizing plans to host the world’s richest  Twenty20 league after India’s fight to contain the COVID-19 surge prompted its relocation.
