IPL 2020 : Mahendra Singh Dhoni takes “bravest decision” before IPL begins

Recently, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) 13 members were tested positive for the novel coronavirus and the IPL is all set to begin from September 19, 2020.

The Indian Premier League opening match will be played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI). CSK was given an option to start campaign in IPL 2020 from 23rd September, instead of playing on opening day.

But as we all know, CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni always known for taking brave decision so he decided to play on opening day. IPL Governing Council Chairman Brijesh Patel gave CSK a chance  to play afterwards and spend time more on preparation and also overcome all issues that they are currently grappling with.

“Releasing IPL schedule is the prerogative of IPL Governing Council. We don’t check with IPL franchises on their preferences in regard to scheduling of the games. But these are very exceptional circumstances, especially with the Covid-19 cases in the CSK team. That is the reason, before releasing the schedule we discussed with them. We could have scheduled CSK’s first game at a later stage. But they wanted to play the opening game”, said  IPL GC member.

Surprisingly, CSK will be playing 3 matches in the first six days on the IPL 2020. The schedule for the IPL in the first week for CSK is as follows:

Match 1 : Saturday 19TH SEP Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians at 7:30PM in ABU DHABI.

Match 2 : Tuesday 22nd SEP Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals at 7:30PM in Sharjah.

Match 3 : Friday 25-SEP Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals at 7:30PM in DUBAI.
