J&K: Encounter underway in Dana Behak, Warnow area of Kupwara

An encounter is currently going on in the upper reaches of the forest area between Dana Behak and Warnow in the border district of Kupwara in North Kashmir.

The Kashmir zone police wrote on Twitter about recent developments over the case “#Encounter has started in the forest area of Dana Behak, Warnow area of #Kupwara. Police and Army are on the job. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice,” it tweeted.

As per reports, Kupwara police and 28 Rashtriya Rifles and an army local unit jointly launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Dana Behak forests after receiving a tip that terrorists are there in the forests.

An Official said, “the joint search party was firing upon by the terrorists hiding in the area, which retaliated and an encounter started.”

Reports came from that area said that 2 to 3 terrorists have escaped from the area and the aim is to find them out of the forest. Additional reinforcement has been rushed to the spot to help the army. The operation is still going on .
