The song called “Beyonce Sharma Jayegi” featuring Ananya Pandey and Ishaan Khatter from the upcoming movie Khaali Peeli was dropped on YouTube. Those who watched the video are facing second-hand embarrassment over its racist lyrics. In fact, a day after its release, netizens posted tweets and comments apologizing to the American singer for the lyrics of the song that goes like this: “Oh Tujhe Dekha ke goriya… Beyonce Sharma jayegi.”
The track is composed by the famous duo Vishal-Shekhar has been “disliked” over 244K times. The “likes” on the video, however, are just 41K.
For years, Bollywood has been criticized for its portrayal of colourism and set-beauty standards. The song from khaali Peeli proves that Bollywood has learned nothing.
How do they not realise “Tujhe dekh ke goriya, Beyonce sharma jaegi” is a very racist thing to say? How can you pen lyrics that use fairness as an adjective while comparing to a black woman? How are we still having this conversation in 2020?

Bollywood celebs stood up for #BlackLivesMatter but when it comes to their own industry, they have the audacity to release 'Beyonce Sharma Jaegi' with racist and sexist lyrics ''Oh tujhe dekh ke goriya Beyonce sharma jayegi''. When will you move past your fair skin obsession?
