LAC stand-off: ITBP holds strategic positions near Black Top

Indian Army troops have already captured the strategic heights few days back near Pangong Tso.

To add more at least 30 Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have occupied new positions which are near the key Black Top area. This area is of prime Importance because it oversees China in the line of actual control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh.

According to all the details, soldiers of ITBP moved at a location through Phurchuk La Pass, which is located at 4,994 metres to reach a new location, unoccupied earlier.

“ITBP DGP SS Deswal had spent six days sensitising troops along the LAC last week. It’s the first time we are present in the dominating heights in a good number,” ITBP IG (Operations) M S Rawat who along with IG (Personnel) Daljit Choudhary reviewed and compained him on his first visit to LAC since border standoff.

While addressing the troops Deswal said that an extra vehicle have been provided for troop movement between border posts and ensured the road construction will be completed soon to reduce difficulties.

The strategic heights are jointly owned by the Indian Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police and Special Frontier Forces (SFF) such as hills near Helmet Top, Black Top, Yellow Bump which oversees the China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

“These positions on heights running corresponding to China’s People Liberation Army’s posts have been unoccupied for long. Our soldiers have fortified the Indian border.” as per sources.

Currently, ITBP has more than 39 permanent defence positions along the Line of Actual Control where soldiers are already present. “ITBP is present in good numbers near Chushul and Tara border outposts. Extra companies are airlifted from Chandigarh,” said a senior ITBP official.
