Let’s Rewind to 90’s and remember the golden days

So, its 2020 a year of pandemic you might be missing watching good TV shows. If you are in your 30’s right now you would be missing the old 90’s TV shows. The amount of dedication you would show to watch those famous TV shows back to back on Doordarshan.

Here are some of the 90’s TV shows that will take you back to your older days:

1. Shrimaan Shrimati

Shrimaan Shrimati is hindi sitcom that was aired on doordarshan in 1994.  Jatin KanakiaRakesh BediReema Lagoo and Archana Puran Singh were in the lead role. The show was by Rajan Waghdhare and produced by Gautam Adhikari and Markand Adhikari. The story was based on plot “love thy neighbor’s wife”.

2. Byomkesh Bakshi

This was a detective thriller show back in 1993. It was based on Byomkesh Bakshi character created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. Byomkesh is a Bengali Detective who is a  truth seeker and takes on spine-chilling cases with his sidekick Ajitkumar Banerji. He find himself as Satyanweshi meaning ‘truth seeker’ rather than a detective.

3. Mahabharat

This is an Indian epic that was aired in the year 1988 based on the ancient epic. It was ninety four long episode. The title song consisted of lyrical content and two verses from the Bhagavad Gita.. The title song was sung and the verses rendered by singer Mahendra Kapoor.

4. Malgudi Days

Malgudi Days is a short story collection by R.K. Narayan. The series was directed by Kannada actor and director Shankar Nag. Carnatic musician L. Vaidyanathan. Malgudi Days, A Horse and Two Goats, An Astrologer’s Day and Other Short Stories, as well as the novels Swami and Friends, and The Vendor of Sweets were showed through the 2 seasons with 13 long episodes.

5. Wagle ki Duniya

This Indian sitcom was aired on DD National from 1988 to 1990.The story is set around a everday struggles of sales clerk. Srinivas Wagle, who lived with prudence of a middle class person of the time. The King Bollywood “Sharukh Khan” also made a special appearance in the show. Before debuting in the TV series.

6. Alif Laila

Indian TV series series based on the One Thousand and One Nights, also known as the Arabian Nights. The series aired from 1993-1997, 143 long episode on DD National.The series starts from the beginning when Shahrzad starts telling stories to Shahryar and narrates both well-known and the lesser-known stories from the One Thousand and One Nights which are mentioned here.

7. Tu Tu Main Main

It is an Indian sitcom aired on DD Metro and later on Star Plus directed by Sachin Pilgaonkar. The story is about the sweet arguments and love and hate between daughter-in-law and mother-in-law.

8. Fauji

A highly popular television series about a group of apprentices in a commando school, their learning and initial soldiers formation. This is another iconic program from the era of the 80s-90s when Doordarshan dominated and one after another great show kept us all enthused. That everyone connected is a positive thing about this program. At the time, Shahrukh Khan was kind of a nobody. In the commando school seen with a light sense of humor, all the actors suit well.

9. Dekh Bhai Dekh

The plot comprises three main family generations, who live in an inherited family house in the Mumbai as an extended family. The serial takes the audience through many highs and lows. They are motivated by their never-say-die mentality to conquer family drama, relationship issues, career problems, annoying relatives, and in-laws.A significant characteristic of this show was its quick speaking characters.

10. Ramayana

India came to a halt as “Ramayan” aired. Buses stopped, religious services were put on hold, and everyone stopped doing what they did every Sunday morning for 30 minutes to watch the ancient Indian epic brought to life on TV. Ramayana is one of India’s greatest serials ever aired. It has produced So Many’s Blueprint successful and influential serial today. Ramayana is full of spiritual and essential wisdom that needs the world today.
