Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi resigned as the Union Cabinet Minister of Minority Affairs on Wednesday.
RCP Singh also resigned as Union Minister. Both Naqvi and Singh’s terms in the Rajya Sabha will expire on Thursday. Singh was the minister of steel in the Modi Cabinet, and Naqvi was in charge of the minority affairs ministry.
“Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi resigns as Union Minister of Minority Affairs,” quoted ANI.
Sources claim that PM Modi congratulated Singh and Naqvi on Wednesday for their efforts to the advancement of the nation. Modi’s expression of gratitude was interpreted as a sign that the ministers’ last Cabinet meeting had taken place.
Naqvi and JP Nadda met at the BJP national headquarters shortly after the Cabinet meeting.
According to certain media sources, the BJP may propose Naqvi for the position of governor or lieutenant governor of a state or Union Territory or as its vice-presidential candidate for the elections in August.
