Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) demands capital punishment for killers

On Wednesday, the Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) sought the death penalty for those responsible for the brutal murder of a tailor in Udaipur, Rajasthan, calling them “terrorists and demons.”

The RSS-affiliated group said in a statement that the “barbaric” incident’s perpetrators “disgraced” Islam and caused “disrepute and humiliation” to “peaceful” Muslims in India and other countries.

The MRM stated that “The Manch is deeply shocked by such a horrible act and firmly condemns it.”

According to reports, two men carrying cleavers killed Kanhaiya Lal on Tuesday in the Dhan Mandi neighbourhood of Udaipur. They then posted videos online claiming to be avenging “insult to Islam”. In a video tape, one of the two attackers claimed to have decapitated the victim before threatening to behead Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well.

In addition to detaining three other people for their suspected involvement in the case, the police have apprehended Riaz Akhtari and Ghouse Mohammad.
