Pakistan finally acknowledged 1993 Mumbai bombing’s mastermind Dawood Ibrahim’s presence in Karachi

Pakistan first time in the span of a decade accepted and acknowledged the presence of 1993 bombing or India’s most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim.

Pakistani government finally admitted that Dawood Ibrahim is living in Karachi. Allegations made on Pakistan for hiding Dawood Ibrahim since he left Mumbai after the blast.

Recently Pakistan banned 88 Terror groups and it’s leaders and have imposed sweeping sanctions. But Pakistan gave no Official confirmation about mentioning Dawood Ibrahim’s name in the list among those Terror groups on whom restrictions have been imposed.

If Pakistan’s report are true then this will be the first time Islamabad has considered Dawood Ibrahim’s presence in their homeland.

Pakistan on Friday imposed a financial sanctions on 88 banned terror groups including their leaders such as  Hafiz Saeed, Masood Azhar, and Ibrahim. Pakistan ordered to seize all of their properties as well as freezing bank accounts including cancellations as per reported by ‘The News’, one of the Pakistani newspaper on Saturday.

Ibrahim is the one, the world knows leader of the most outreached and multifaceted illegal business.India is searching him as he is the accused of 1993 bombings in Mumbai and India’s most wanted terrorist ever.

Reports have indicated several times by Intelligence bureau, the presence of Dawood Ibrahim in Pakistan and observed the fact that Karachi is hiding the fact that he is the resident of Pakistan.

But Pakistan in all these had neither accepted nor looked upon the allegations made by India.

US declared in 2003 that Dawood Ibrahim is the most specially designated terrorist in the world. As well Pakistan government in it’s official declaration specified the address of Dawood Ibrahim.

Being considered as the global terrorist, India had asked several times to hand over Pakistan so that he can be prosecuted on the crimes committed by him. Reportedly, Ibrahim is in southern port of city of Karachi.

On June 2018, Financial Action Task Force (FATF) had marked Pakistan in the grey list  and directed Islamabad to implement the plan of action by the end of 2019. Unfortunately, deadline extended due to COVID-19 Pandemic.

On August 28, government issued two notifications announcing sanctions on Global Prime Terrorists such as 26/11 masterminds of Mumbai attacks, Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) Chief Saeed, Jaish-e-mohammad (JeM) Chief Azhar and 1993 Mumbai bombing’s accused Dawood Ibrahim.

Pakistan government issued new list on the basis of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as per reported by The News.
