PM Modi and French Defence Minister to attend Rafale’s Induction ceremony this month: Read details

As per reported by The Economic Times, “Amid the ongoing tension with China at Line of Actual Contol (LAC) in Ladakh, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is planning for a high-profile Rafale induction ceremony later this month which may include Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French Defence Minister Florence Parly.”

The induction ceremony reportedly will take place in Ambala at the Air Force station where already the first five Rafales have been stationed.

The final date for the event has not been decided. As it is expected to commence in the upcoming weeks. Sources said, ” IAF has started the preparations for the formal induction ceremony.”

According to the report, the IAF said,” The induction ceremony for the Rafales that arrived at Ambala on 29 July is planned in the second half of August. Efforts are focused on operationalization of the aircraft at the earliest.”

The five Rafale jets are being integrated which were introduced earlier this month in the IAF ecosystem. The fighter aircraft have already consisted of successful weapons firing at a test range after the arrival of all the Jets.

Sources said, “French Defence Minister Parly will be a part of the induction ceremony at Ambala.”

It should be noted that India has signed a 7.8 billion Euro deal with France for 36 Rafale jets. five out of 36 have arrived in the country.

Party is likely to raise the possibility of a larger order for the Rafale fighter jets under the Make in India initiative during his visit.
