The National Sports Awards Committee on Friday announced the list of the recipient players who will be awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.
India cricketer Rohit Sharma, para-athlete Mariappan Thangavelu, table tennis champion Manika Batra, wrestler Vinesh Phogat and women’s hockey team captain Rani Rampal will get Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.

The sports ministry has tightened its back for a huge increase in the prize money of the National Sports Awards. A proposal that once approved, will lead to Khel Ratna awardees getting ₹25 lakh while leaving the Arjuna winners richer by ₹15 lakh.
Currently, the Khel Ratna comes with a cash prize of Rs 7.5 lakh, while the Arjuna awardees get Rs 5 lakh. After the amendments, the prize money of Award, India’s highest sporting honor, is being increased by 70 percent.
