Rajkummar Rao turns 36: Here are Top 10 must-watch movies of the Actor.

‘Vicky please’, the man ‘Rajkummar Rao‘ who made us fall in love with dialogue turns 36 years old today. He started his remarkable journey on Bollywood 10 years ago. Till date, he has acted in 15 movies, in which he had been a lead actor. 

He has won several awards which includes three Filmfare Awards, three Star Screen Awards and two Zee Cine Awards. He has been presented with the National Award and Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award. 

On his 36th birthday, here are ten of his must-watch movies:

  1. Judgementall Hai kya(2019) on ZEE5 

Judgementall Hai Kya is a black-comedy directed by Prakash Kovelamudi, starring Rajkummar Rao and the Queen, Kangana Ranaut. Rajkumar experimented with his negative side and his portrayal of the dark character was the perfect match for Kangana’s crazy persona in the film. 

2. Stree (2018)

Rajkummar’s  one of the best movie till date a horror- comedy with co-star Shraddha Kapoor  film directed by  Amar Kaushik . This movie isn’t  complete with the famous dialogue “Vicky Please’. The film bagged 10 Filmfare nominations, along with Best Actor and he even won the Star Screen Award for the role.

3. Omerta (2017)

Rajkummar did great job in the bipoic on Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, a British terrorist who played a key role in the assassination of Daniel Pearl. Omerta was the closing film at the Mumbai Film Festival in 2017. It has been one of the darkest characters played by Rao which is  very different from his usual roles.

4. Newton (2017)

Rao’s biggest breakthrough in 2017.This was black comedy-drama, Directed by Amit Masurkar, the film premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival. This was an official entry of Indian movie at  Oscars. He was nominated for Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor and  received an Asia Pacific Screen Award for Best Performance by an Actor.

5. Bareily Ki Barfi (2017)

Rao starred alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, wjo played a role of meek salesman who pretends to be the tough guy to Kriti Sanon’s Bittu. The movie was a commercial success.He even won best supporting actor at Filmfare Award.

6. Trapped (2017)

This was the film which really put Rao in the limelight. Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, Trapped is a survival drama of which the majority of the film had Rao hogging the screen by himself. The movie was premiered at the 2016 Mumbai Film Festival, and released in 2017. Rao also received the Best Actor Filmfare Critics Award and the film earned two more awards.

7. Aligarh (2016)

Another project with Hansal Mehta, this biographical story had Rajkummar shares the screen with Manoj Bajpayee, who was trying out the role of professor Ramchandra Siras at Aligarh University. Rao was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for this movie and Bajpayee scooped a Filmfare.

8. Citylights (2014)

Rajkummar ‘s second project with Hansal Mehta put him alongside Patralekha, with whom he is in a relationship ever since. The film was a remake of the British film Metro Manila nominee BAFTA, which was deemed a critical hit because of its relatively low budget. Rajkummar successfully represented here the situation of a poor farmer coming to the city for a living.

9. Shahid (2013)

The actor’s first of several projects with director Hansal Mehta was based on the experiences of lawyer and human rights activist Shahid Azmi with this biographical drama film. Rao portrayed the title role in a movie, shown at film festivals around the world. Besides winning his first Filmfare, Rajkummar has bagged the Best Actor National Film Award.

10. Kai Po Che! (2013)

2013 was the year of Rajkummar Rao’s essential, mainstream success. It started with co-starring him with Sushant Singh Rajput and Amit Sadh in this friendly drama film. The film had a world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival and became the first Indian film to be included in the section on World Panorama. Rajkummar has scooped his first nomination for Best Supporting Actor in Filmfare.
