Remembering ‘King of Pop’ : Michael Jackson on his 62nd Birth Anniversary with his Top 10 songs

‘King of Pop’, Michael Jackson a great singer was born on this day in the year 1958. A man who made lakh of people crazy about not just his singing but his iconic dance step and being a  fashion icon of that era.

He left his legacy in the world with his famous ‘Moon walk’ dance step. He has been an inspiration for many people and is continuing to inspire the world even after.

On his 62th birth anniversary here are Top 10 of his record breaking hits:

1. Beat It (1983)

This song remained at the peak of American pop chart Billboard for three weeks straight, and remained there for 25 weeks. Michael Jackson won a Grammy Award for this song.

2. Billie Jean (1983)

This song was Jackson’s sixth studio album “thriller”. This was the first time ever world discovered his famous dance step “Moonwalk”. This song narrates the story of a girl who claims to be the mother of his son.

3. Smooth Criminal(1998)

The centerpiece of the feature film Moonwalker and featured the debut of Michael’s iconic “anti-gravity lean.” Inspired by  Fred Astaire’s “Girl Hunt Ballet” dance.

4. They don’t care about us (1996)

The album caused outrage for Jackson when he was charged with penning anti-Semitic lyrics. Upset to the media attention it created, Jackson issued numerous apologies, maintaining that he had no intention of getting to any Jewish community member, and re-recording the track.  It was more competitive in Europe, reaching out to the top ten in most countries.

5. Heal the world (1992)

A beautiful song composed by Jackson, features children living in countries suffering from unrest, especially Burundi. It is also one of only a handful of Michael Jackson’s videos not to feature Jackson himself

6. Smooth Criminal (1998)

Jackson was inspired by Resusci Anne, a dummy used in CPR training ” The refrain “Annie, are you OK?”. The song features fast beat with lyrics about a woman who has been attacked in her apartment by a “smooth criminal”.

7. Black and White (1991)

Black or White ‘isn’t just about color of skin, it’s about acceptance and respecting people for who they are, which is what the show respect itself on.

8. Thriller (1983)

The album ‘Thriller’ peaked at number four on Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Nine million copies were sold worldwide, ‘Thriller’ is regarded as one of the best singles of all time.

9. Baby Be Mine (1982)

The first album Single. That was such an unbelievable duet. As always, Paul’s vocals are beautiful. Paul and Michael both sound fantastic.

10. BAD (1987)

The song debuted at number one on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart and over 2 millions copies were sold in its first week in the US. The album also reached number one in 24 other countries
