Return of golden era after 75 years of Independence: 1.62 crore tourists visited Jammu and Kashmir this Year

Jammu and Kashmir has been included in the list of tourists who love to travel without any restrictions and this has been seen in the recent record where 1.62 crore tourists visited Jammu and Kashmir so far this year, which is the highest since independence, an official said on Thursday.

No doubt Kashmir is the place where everyone wants to visit but due to safety and security reasons people were afraid to see the ‘swarg’. After the removal of Article 370 Kashmir become the peaceful place which starts attracting lakhs of tourists and tourism players say is the return of golden era of Kashmir tourism.

J&K tourism spokesperson said that “the record number of tourists visiting Jammu and Kashmir underlines the overall development and change that has taken place in the Union territory.”

This new record breaking incident has bring source of employment in Jammu and Kashmir and since January, 2022 till date, 1.62 crore tourists have visited Jammu and Kashmir, which is the highest in 75 years of independence.

A record-breaking 20.5 lakh tourists, including 3.65 lakh Amarnath yatris, visited Kashmir in the first eight months of this year, drawing visitors from all over the nation to the gorgeous and picturesque Valley, he said.

The most visited place in Jammu and Kashmir by tourists are Pahalgam, Gulmarg, and Sonamarg. All the hotels and guesthouse in Srinagar experienced 100 percent occupancy, it’s the highest footfall for Kashmir Valley after three decades.

As tourism increased in the Valley its providing maximum employment in various regions of Jammu and Kashmir including Poonch, Rajouri.

“Film Policy has also been launched to attract film-makers for shooting as Kashmir has beautiful places. After decades and within a year of notification of this policy, as 140 shooting permissions for films and web-series have been issued,” spokesman said.
