The Supreme Court of India on Tuesday declared that Reliance Jio and Airtel are liable for the past AGR dues of RCom and Aircel for using Its spectrum and will have to repay AGR charges for the months recently had been used.
Bench of Arun Mishra, S Abdul Nazeer and M R Shah agreed on the arguments of Jio and Airtel that they are only liable to pay AGR dues within the time period for months in which spectrum had been used and also on the basis of rules and guidelines of the DoT.
Jio clarified to the court that the company used only 23% of the spectrum of RCom and both the companies were confident that they already had cleared all the remaining dues in time for using the spectrum.
