Sri Lanka’s President declares emergency for the second time amid worst economic crisis

Sri Lanka people are in shock now when President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has declared a state of emergency.

The Sri Lankan government failed to deal with the economic crisis which they were facing and declared a state of emergency at midnight.

People of Sri Lanka were continuously protesting against the government which led to the government to impose the security forces sweeping powers for the second time in five weeks to deal with escalating anti-government protests.

The trade unions staged a nationwide strike on Friday which demanded the president Rajapaksa resignation over a worsening economic crisis.

The island nation is under extreme debt, meanwhile the people of Sri Lanka are sleeping without food, and protecting against the ruling party.

To control the protest against the government, police fired tear gas and water cannons at the protesters who were demanding the country’s government to step down.

22 million people are suffering from shortage of food, fuel and pharmaceuticals have caused widespread suffering across the island nation.

This is the worst situation since from 1948, people of Sri Lanka have been broken down into emotions, enger and  sparks, which demanded the president Gotabaya Rajapaksa resignation.
