A day after BJP and netizens on Twitter demanded ban on Netflix’s newly released political drama ‘Tandav’ using hashtags such as #BanTandavNow and #BoycottTandav, an FIR has been lodged against the makers and Amazon Prime India head of original content, Aparna Purohit in Lucknow’s Hazratganj police station.

An FIR has also been lodged against director of ‘Tandav’ Ali Abbas Zafar, its Himanshu Krishna Mehra, writer Gaurav Solanki and others for hurting religious sentiments.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Broadcast & Information asked for an explanation from the streaming platforms as BJP MP Manoj Kotak wrote to I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar, where he has written about the whole incident seeking a ban on Amazon Video’s series ‘Tandav’ for allegedly insulting Hindi Gods calling the series “Anti-Hindu”.

Manoj Kotak in his statement said, “Hence, we have made a demand to Javadekar ji and have written to him to ban the web series immediately. The actors, producers and directors should apologise for hurting sentiments.” Another politician, Ram Kadam, a BJP MLA from Ghatkopar West has also asked the director to remove the portion of the web series.
