In a Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, Sonia Gandhi also attacked government over farmers protest. She allegedly said that government is showing its insensitivity and arrogance over farm protests consultations between the Centre and the farm unions, which have reached 11th level today.
In a virtual conference, Sonia Gandhi said, “Very recently there have been very disturbing reports on how national security has been so thoroughly compromised. I think just a few days back, Antony-ji (former Defence Minister AK Antony) had said that leaking of official secrets of military operations is treason. Yet the silence from the Government’s side on what has been revealed has been deafening.”
“Those who give certificates of patriotism and nationalism to others now stand totally exposed.” She continued to remark over farm laws by saying that it was clear that the three farm laws have been prepared in a hurry, and parliament intentionally denied to re-examine the laws as their details might have its implications and impacts, which might expose government.
Sonia Gandhi said that the party was adamant from the very beginning and rejected the laws categorically as it may destroy food security foundations that are traditionally based on Minimum Support Price (MSP), Public Procurement and Public Distribution System (PDS).
This CWC meeting began a series of meetings today to decide on who will become the next Congress President.
