At the CWG 2022, wrestlers Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, and Deepak Punia added to India’s gold medal total in impressive fashion on Friday.
Punia won the men’s 65 kg final against Lachlan McNeil of Canada, while Malik won the women’s 62 kg final against Ana Godinez Gonzalez of Canada. Deepak Punia then defeated Pakistan’s Muhammad Inam in the men’s 86 kg final. Anshu Malik of India earned the silver medal earlier in the competition after losing to Odunayo Folasade of Nigeria in the women’s 57 kg final.
Divya Kakran (women’s 68 kg) and Mohit Grewal (men’s 125 kg) both took home bronze.
Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen have advanced to the men’s singles quarterfinals, while Indian badminton prodigy PV Sindhu has reached the women’s singles quarterfinals. In the women’s singles para table tennis classes 3-5, Bhavinaben Patel advanced to the championship match. Manika Batra suffered a defeat in the women’s singles quarterfinals in table tennis. However, three male table tennis players from India, including Achanta Sharath Kamal, advanced to the men’s singles quarterfinals.
Hima Das, a renowned sprinter, came in third place in the women’s 200-meter semifinal but was unable to move to the final. Australia defeated the Indian women’s hockey team in the semifinals.
