Naomi Osaka beat Misaki Doi after splitting sets

Naomi Osaka who withdrew from final match held on Saturday of the Western & Southern Open with a hamstring injury. This injury prevailed in the last match at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Monday night while beating Misaki Doi 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.

U.S. Open Champion in 2018, Osaka who seeded fourth this year. She dominated with her serves, hitting six aces winning 76% and 55% serves by Osaka and Doi respectively. Osaka will next face hard-hitting Camila Giorgi.

John Isner lost on mixed day 

John Kisner is No.16 seed and the highest ranked American man. He fell out of the U.S. Open in the first round. He lost to fellow American Steve Johnson whose ranked 64th, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 7-6 (3).

Isner ranked 22nd and had never lost in the first round in the U.S Open Round since 2018. He has won five in a row over Isner, with three of those wins coming in final set tiebreakers.

Novak Djokovic cruised

Novak Djokovic, world’s number one improved his record this season to 24-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 and over Damir Dazumhur. He was the only player to have to play matches on both Saturday and Monday.
