Journalist Yuvraj Pokharna received death threats from Islamists on Instagram on June 28 after he criticised the Udaipur killing. Pokharna wrote, “This abominable “skullcap” cult will always be inimical and grotesque to mankind,” in a comment on The Tatva India’s Instagram post about the murder of Kanhaiya Lal Teli by Islamists.
Faisal x mhd responded to his remark on Instagram by saying, “Gustak E Rasool ki ek saja sir tan se juda.” “Who started it, dude?” wrote amirshaikh rm, another Instagram user.
Following this, Yuvraj Pokharna reported the Instagram users Faisal and Amir Shaikh to the Gujarat Police.
Pokharna said in an interview with OpIndia that he received several threats for denouncing the barbaric murder of Kanhaiya Lal by Islamists in Udaipur. I was astonished, he remarked. Kanhaiya Lal was murdered just for standing up for Nupur Sharma. I expressed my disapproval of the murder on Instagram, which led to threats against me. I have reported the Instagram users who threatened me to the police. Both Amir and Faisal removed their Instagram accounts after making the threats.
A Hindu man called Kanhaiya Lal was brutally killed on June 28 in Udaipur, Rajasthan, because of a post in support of former BJP spokeswoman Nupur Sharma. The post was allegedly made by accident from Kanhaiya Lal’s phone by his 8-years-old son while playing a video game.
Mohammed Riyaz Akhtar and Mohammed Gos, the two Islamist attackers, were arrested by the police. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the NIA has taken over the investigation.
