Zakir Khan, the ‘Haq Se Single’ Man & India’s finest Comedian

Zakir Khan one of India’s finest comedians and YouTuber who first stole his limelight when he won ‘ India’s Best Stand-up Comedian’ aired on Central Comedy in 2012. Since then, its no turning back in his life and with the days growing into a big name.

Personal Life

Zakir was born on 20th August 1987 in a middle-class family in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. His father, Ustad Ismail Khan eminent musician is a music teacher in school while his mother, Kulsum Khan is a housewife. Zakir has two brothers Zeeshan Khan, who is an upcoming singer at the Malang band, and Arbaaz Khan. Talking about his grandfather, Ustad Moinuddin Khan who was a Padma Shri awardee and All India Radio staff at Jaipur.

Education & Interest

Zakir did his schooling from St. Paul Higher Secondary School, Indore but was unable to complete his graduation. As he said,

‘YAAR, COLLEGE MEI RAHNE KA KOI MATLAB NAHI THA. CLASSES HUM ATTEND KRTEIN NHI THE, aur degree se zyada apni khwahisho se pyaar tha’

 

He had quite an interest in writing Urdu poetry, singing, and composing songs. He truly admires the work of Mirza Ghalib and other artists. Coming from a musical background, he has a keen interest in playing the sitar.

Life & Struggles of Zakir Khan

Zakir moved to Delhi to become a Radio producer and he even did a radio programming course from ARSL for a year and did an internship too. Dropping out was one of the hard phases of his life and the hardship continued for many years. Then, he did stand up comedy at cafes and would get appreciation from people as his comedy was very honest.

Later, he was called to write the news comedy on – ON-Air with AIB in Mumbai. Since then there is no turning back in his life.

‘Hum woh hai jo foothpath par bahar ki

taraf chaltein hain,

saaya bantein hai parivar ka,

par dhoop pr khud palte hai.’

Achievements of Zakir Khan

Zakir has done amazingly great since the past few years from streaming his stand-up comedy show ‘ Haq Se single‘, Judge on Comicstan, ‘Kasha Gayrvi‘ and ‘Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare‘. And, his great performance at AIB Diwas was a lifetime cherish  moment. Not only he is extremely good at stand-up comedy but is great at writing Shayari. During February, he started a podcast on Gaana app with the name ‘UMEED with Zakir Khan‘.

A small-town self-made boy, who has made the whole country proud as he has done many shows outside India. His sense of humor and his honesty with his work has made him a self-made star.
